Oxfam Trailwalker = 3 challenges
Oxfam Trailwalker = a sports challenge
Training is absolutely necessary.
Anyone can join Oxfam Trailwalker and finish it, but being well prepared is imperative.
Even if you are in great shape, you will have to prepare yourself mentally and build up your stamina.
It is also important to do research into how much food and drinks you will need, how to deal with exhaustion and what kind of shoes to wear.
Oxfam Trailwalker = a team challenge
You will train together, gather funds together… and walk the 100 km together.
Putting the right team together is very important.
Every participating team consists of four people.
Who will be a member of your team? Friends, colleagues, family, neighbours, people from your sports club…
The only prior condition is that each member is at least 18 years of age at the moment of Oxfam Trailwalker (August 29 & 30 2020).
Each team needs to be assisted by a group of supporters (min. 2).
During the preparation phase they can help by gathering funds.
During Oxfam Trailwalker itself they are absolutely indispensable.
The support team provides walkers with food and drinks, makes sure breaks are as comfortable as possible and cheers their team on to the finish line.
Once it is over, it is the supporters who will make sure that their team returns home safely.
Oxfam Trailwalker = a challenge full of solidarity
Every team is expected to raise at least 1750 euros for Oxfam projects.
The walkers and supporters will collect this sum during the months preceding Oxfam Trailwalker.
Some ideas to help you collect 1.750 euros :
- Get people to sponsor you for an amount per kilometer.
- Sell home-made cakes in your neighbourhood or at work.
- Organise a party, a wine-tasting evening, make spaghetti or invite people over for some cheese plates.
- Have your equipment sponsored.
In short, there are a myriad of ways to raise this amount!
If you draw short on inspiration, feel free to check up our list of suggestions.
Please note that this amount of 1.750 euros is an addition to the subscription fee.
Each team is fully registered as soon as the entry form is filled in and the amount of 31 euros per person is paid.
