Oxfam Trailwalker is changing venue!
After eleven editions spent in the High Fens (Hautes Fagnes), Oxfam Trailwalker is moving to the Grande Foret de Saint Hubert and the Massif de Freyr in the Ardennes.
For this twelfth edition of Oxfam Trailwalker on 31 August and 1st September, we are pleased to invite you to this brand new venue.
After looking at many options, we finally settled for this charming region in the province of Luxembourg.
We have mapped out a walking route of 100 km crossing through green forests and bucolic valleys and places steeped in history like the Fourneau St. Michel and the picturesque villages of Nassogne, Bure, and Mirwart.
Further details on the route will be published shortly.
Leaving the High Fens with sincere thanks to all
It is indeed with a twinge of sadness that we are leaving this beautiful region and its German-speaking community.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners for their support and warm welcome over the past eleven editions!
Since our first edition in 2008, the regional and local authorities, the rescue services, the Red Cross and all the tireless volunteers have one and all contributed to making Oxfam Trailwalker into the successful event enjoying a national reputation that it has become.
Thank you all from our heart and we look forward to welcoming you to St. Hubert to continue this Oxfam Trailwalker Belgium adventure.
A route just as captivating as that of the High Fens?
You can see for yourself if this is true by registering for this solidarity walk through the Grande Foret de Saint Hubert and the Massif de Freyr.
For this new edition, the route will be arranged in loops, so the starting and the finishing points will be identical i.e. in the beautiful natural setting of the military aerodrome at St Hubert (herewith a first draft of the route - to be confirmed).
The event will start on Saturday 31st August at 9H00 and the last teams must reach the finishing point on Sunday 1st September before 15h00.
No change without innovation!
Your body needs "light" treatment?
Part of the classic walking route will also be used for a proposed new walk entirely devoted to your well-being.
For this new walk, participants will have to cover 27 kilometres within 8 hours ..... fasting!
Teams will consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of 8 people.
Participants will be invited to follow a two-day preparatory regime, which has been drawn up a nutritionist.
Only water, juices and/or teas will be allowed during the walk and also on the day of the walk.
To break your fast at the end of the walk, a small natural meal will be offered.
More details on this new adventure will follow shortly.
The starting point for this new challenge will be the military aerodrome of St. Hubert and the starting date and time will be Saturday 31st August at 10H00.
A new experience - also for the volunteers
For the first 11 editions, we were able to count on the loyal support of more than 350 volunteers each year.
Can we do as well - or even better! - for this 12th edition in the Ardennes?
We are sure, dear volunteers, that your support knows no geographical limits.
Be one of pioneers of this first edition of a "new" Oxfam Trailwalker!
What an original manner to get to know the Ardennes region if you do not know it already as well as an opportunity to meet interesting people whilst helping out a good cause!
We need your help and your amiability now more than ever! Register already now.
