Raising funds can be quite a challenge, but at the same time it
can be fun as well. And don't forget: good advice from the Oxfam
Trailwalker's secretary is only one email or phone call away.
Important: every deposit starting €30 is tax deductible (and will be sent to the person who has donated the money).

Just like a training schedule, a funding schedule can prove to be very useful. It's important to divide the work into different goals. Follow-up is very important, so be sure to make some time for it every week. Do a lot of work right after the enrolment, that way there will be less work as the Oxfam Trailwalker draws closer. That way you can focus on the active part of the Trailwalker.

Get help! Ask friends, colleagues, neighbours or family members to commit to your team and take care of a part of the funding. Youth movements and people in clubs are usually very creative and will not shy away from the challenge.

Of course everyone may contribute an amount of money, but local shop owners or companies often are the biggest sponsors. Another option is knocking on your employer's door. Or why not send an email to all your colleagues or write a small announcement in your company's newsletter? Therefore you can make use of our e-card, for example.

Step 4: The right approach |
|
There are many ways to ask people to financially support your team and Oxfam Solidarity. But everyone is different. The best way to contact store owners is by sending them a clean letter, business people prefer a fast email, an enthusiastic talk can convince your family members, ... Think about how you're going to approach who: by letter, by email, by personally talking to them, ...

Step 5: How to collect money? |
|
Ask people who're willing to support your team to give their donations immediately or make an agreement in order to avoid not receiving donations in time. Through your team page on this website people can also give financial support on-line by money order. This makes it all quite a bit easier.
|
|
|
Step 6: Your own page on this website |
|
Regularly update your page with news and information about your activities, because supporters and sympathisers will visit it multiple times. Make sure that your photo is clear, but most of all fun and creative.

Step 7: Raising funds by money order |
|
There are many ways for sympathisers to support your team. These are already a few ideas:
- The best way to make a donation is by using our website. To do this, you can use the "gift button" on the the team's web page.
- You can also - without using the website - make donations through money order. Here it's important that you use the correct message: 8037 OTW team 161 GIFT. Also, always start with the number 8029, the action code of Oxfam Trailwalker and don't forget to give the correct team number. You can find the number on the team page as well as the counter of the fund raising. Please remember that it might take awhile before the amount of money donated by money order appears on the counter, as it is manually added.
- You can, of course, support the teams as well by participating in their activities.

You can find more ideas in the fund raising guide. Some activities might need approval or a license first, so don't forget to apply these in time! Examples which require approval or licenses are actions on public places, selling food and drinks, using music, ...
